US President Joe Biden has called on the US defense department to increase its weapons shipments to Ukraine, in response to Russia’s “outrageous” Christmas Day attack on Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure.
Biden described the attack as a calculated move by Russia to deprive Ukrainians of heat and electricity during winter and endanger the country’s power grid.
The assault, which involved a massive aerial attack using cruise missiles and drones, has been condemned globally, underscoring the ongoing tension between Russia and Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
